The ´Costa de la Luz´ {Coast of light} is located in South Spain, more accurately in the Atlantic coast of Cádiz and Huelva. It is connected to the very famous Costa del Sol by the Strait of Gibraltar. It has more than 200 kms of fantastic white sand beaches, some of them are still considered almost virgin beaches. The great weather and the high number of sun hours make the coast an ideal place to expend your vacations. It is also full of places where enjoining nature, and stunning landscapes. One of the most important and famous example is the Doñana Natural Park.
Some of the towns and beaches along the coast are: Ayamonte, Isla Cristina, Lepe, El Portil, Punta Umbría, Matalascañas, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Chipiona, El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, Chiclana de la Frontera {La Barrosa beach}, Conil de la Frontera, Zahara de los Atunes, Los Caños de Meca, Vejer de la Frontera, Bolonia, and Tarifa.
There a lot of thing to do in Cádiz and the Costa de la Luz. Apart from enjoying the sun and its beaches, the old towns within the province are well known for their beautiful monuments and long history. Its gastronomic offer is also highly valued between the visitors, who most of the time love its wines, red tuna of almadraba and Payoyo cheese.
Another recommended activity is horse riding within their pine forest or beaches, especially during their amazing red sunsets. Caños de Meca, is for example, a fantastic place to do it. Close to this beach, a small town called Vejer de la Frontera has one of the most attractive gastronomic offer in the area. Vejer is part of the group of Gaditanian towns in the countryside called ´pueblos blancos´.
Tarifa beach is well known internationally as one of the favourite beaches for windsurfers. It is located just in the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea join together.
Visit Gibraltar is also part of the tourist offer in the Costa de la Luz. Gibraltar is an unique place where it is possible enjoying the greatest aspects of the British culture. It is also possible view wild dolphins in the Strait of Gibraltar. This is one of the favourites tours for visitors.
There are several hotels and luxury resorts in the Costa de la Luz. La Barrosa beach in Chiclana de la Frontera is the best example. It counts with some of the greatest hotels, golf courses and spas in Spain, attracting thousands of tourist from different countries in the world every year. Jerez airport receives flights full of, mainly, British and German tourist continuously.
